Needham’s Traveling Meals Program, fee for service, was designed to deliver meals to homebound residents who do not have the support of family or any in-home services that would enable them to purchase or prepare their daily meals.
The two-meal package is nutritionally balanced. The package includes one hot and one cold meal and is prepared at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital. The packages are delivered by volunteers to the individuals that meet the criteria.
The Traveling Meals Program is available to residents who:
- Are unable to drive.
- Do not have support, such as family or homemaker service, to provide daily meals.
- Have physical or cognitive limitations that restrict the ability to shop and prepare their own meals.
- For most clients this is a short-term program. There is a two-weeks minimum enrollment.
