The Admin Division oversees the hiring process for all Public Works job openings, including for temporary summer help and co-op placements. Qualified candidates are encouraged to apply and check back frequently. Please click here to see all currently open DPW positions, including Summer Help and Co-Op Program openings.
Summer Help
The Department of Public Works offers entry level summer opportunities for employment in our Public Works Department. The DPW supports a wide variety of activities and programs over the summer months and it relies on motivated and hard-working summer help to ensure that our roads, parks, water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure, fleet, waste management, engineering, and buildings are all ready for the upcoming year. These jobs offer the opportunity to experience public service at its most fundamental level by providing insight into the workings of infrastructure maintenance. Those with an interest in construction, engineering, environmental science, public service, recycling, or trades work are strongly encouraged to apply for this opportunity. Summer Help applications open during the Spring of every year for employment in June through August.
Co-op Program
The Department of Public Works offers a co-op program through their Building Maintenance, Parks & Forestry, Fleet, and Water & Sewer Divisions. These co-op positions allow students to provide additional assistance to Town staff in their selected concentration while learning the skills necessary for advancement in their career. In Building Maintenance, the co-op position is aimed at students studying a skilled trade (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, or carpentry). In Parks & Forestry, the co-op position is open to students studying horticulture. In Fleet, the co-op position is for a student pursuing a career in automotive mechanics. In Water & Sewer, the co-op position focuses on water treatment and distribution for the Town.
