PUBLIC NOTIFICATION STATEMENT
Subject to the new Federal – EPA (U.S. Environmental Protection Agency) and State - MassDEP (Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection), under the Lead and Copper Rule revisions (LCRR), the Town of Needham, Department of Public Works - Water, Sewer, and Drain (WSD) Division has submitted the required (Water) Service Line Inventory (SLI) before the required deadline of October 16, 2024 to the above aforementioned agencies.
The WSD Division will be distributing the (Water) Service Line Material Consumer Notifications by the November 15, 2024 deadline, as required under these regulations. Based on the WSD Division’s past and continued proactive efforts in removing, replacing, and upgrading the water system, along with a thorough review and investigation of our records, of the 10,000 public water system connections only 115 of these water service connections meet the specified criteria of possible Lead, Galvanized Requiring Replacement (GRR) or Lead Status Unknown (UNK). Therefore only 115 of these notifications will be issued to our consumers and property owners on or before the required deadline.
The Town of Needham DPW – Water, Sewer and Drain (WSD) Division continues to meet all Federal, State, and Local water quality standards and provide safe quality drinking water to all our residents and consumers on a daily basis.
The SLI is publicly available and accessible to all consumers and property owners by mail, email, in person public viewing, or by weblink.
