Building Maintenance Division

Purpose & Responsibilities

The Building Maintenance Division provides scheduled and routine maintenance to all town and school buildings and manages space rentals in school gyms and auditoriums. The division is also responsible for managing major building-related capital projects, custodial operations, and all maintenance trades in support of all town and school buildings. 

The Division is responsible for the following:

  • Oversees the custodial operations, including Town custodial staff as well as contracted custodial staff
  • Oversees the trades staff, which includes the positions of electrician, carpenter, plumber, HVAC technician, and craftsworker
  • Manages the preventative maintenance programs
  • Conducts repairs and maintenance in the fields of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, Building Management System (BMS), masonry, fire alarm and sprinklers, and elevators
  • Manages building-related capital improvement projects up to $500,000
  • Partners with the Building Design and Construction Department on major building projects
