Governance & Funding Sources

The Needham Council on Aging consists of a 12-member board and a 12-member staff. As a town department it acts as a focal point for all aging service issues related to Needham's town residents and operates The Center at The Heights.

Governing Bodies

Needham is governed by a representative Town Meeting that appropriates funds and establishes policies. In turn, the Select Board and town manager oversee the town government and in so doing help to determine financial support for the Council on Aging and appoints the members of the Council on Aging Board.

Council on Aging Board

The Council on Aging Board is responsible for appointing the seven members of the Advisory Committee. The Needham Council on Aging is funded through several sources, including:

  • Additional grants
  • Executive Office of Elder Affairs
  • Friends of the Needham Elderly Inc.
  • Private donations
  • The Town of Needham
