Volunteer Opportunities

School Year Volunteering:

Needham Park and Recreation brings on volunteers during the school year to assist with school year programs and special events. Volunteers will assist with running activities, setting up and taking down programs, and maintaining a safe program space. Responsibilities vary during special events, but can largely be described as ensuring the event is safe for all participants, helping to set up and clean up the event, and helping to ensure the event runs as smoothly as possible. Some programs may require specific skills to volunteer at, like Ice Skating Lessons, or tennis lessons. See our seasonal brochure for descriptions of programs and special events being offered.

To volunteer during the school year, please email the Recreation Supervisor at cburnham@needhamma.gov. Please include your name, grade, availability and total number of hours you are looking for.

Summer Volunteering

The Park and Recreation Department brings on summer volunteers through our Leader in Training program. LITs assist program staff with running games and activities, playing with participants, and helping to maintain a safe program space. Due to high demand, our Leader in Training program will require preregistration through our registration website(www.needhamprograms.com). This preregistration will open in early spring. Please contact parkandrecreation@needhamma.gov with any questions.
