The GIS Administrator directs the development of the Town’s Geographic Information Systems (GIS). The GIS Administrator's primary function is to oversee the daily operation of the Town’s GIS, including the maintenance and administration of all GIS hardware and software applications as well as quality control of all GIS data bases that are used by the Town including current data to the Town's online GIS presence. The GIS Administrator provides GIS technical assistance to all town departments in order to facilitate the implementation of departmental GIS initiatives, reviews and evaluates departmental GIS proposals, respond to all GIS requests, provides training to all GIS users as needed. The GIS Administrator creates maps either regulated by the Town Charter, or for use by departments, boards, committees, or commissions and works with the Engineering Division to ensure a smooth transition between GIS and CAD. The GIS Administrator is the only GIS position throughout the Town and all Town departments work with and coordinate GIS requests and projects through the GIS Administrator. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment to the position.
