The Select Board and the Trustees of the Needham Free Public Library are seeking a candidate to fill a vacancy on the Board of Library Trustees. The successful candidate will be appointed for a term to expire in April 2023. Candidates should be a registered voter and resident of Needham and have an interest in public libraries. The Trustees meet monthly on the second Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m.
The Trustees' primary responsibility is to set library policy, help oversee the library’s financial health, determine the appropriate use of State Aid, and communicate with the public about the Library’s many services, programs, materials, and events. Trustees of the Library, in addition to attending monthly meetings, typically participate in subcommittees and task forces, and rotate through certain responsibilities including officer positions and organizing cultural events at the library.
In addition to the Board of Trustees vacancy, a number of other Town Boards and Committees have openings. Those openings can be found here: https://needhamma.gov/1652/Volunteer-Opportunities
