Hi Everyone!

I hope you are well. These are going to be short as I am in South Carolina visiting my youngest son. My family got COVID and we have the antibodies so the doctors said it was safe for us to go (for up to 90 days) so we hit the road  and here we are!

For anyone who tried to sign up for the vaccine, I am sorry it was such a tricky situation. Again, patience is the best way to proceed.

Also, starting tomorrow we are opening up appointments for the:
AARP Tax Preparations.
You can either email me @ akelley@needhamma.gov
or call the Tax (It's the Tax and Taxi Line) Line at 781-343-1258
Monday - Friday from 10AM - 4PM (2/17 start time for calls is 11AM)
If the call goes to voicemail - please leave a message with your name and number. Do not call again as it blocks other calls.
The days for appointments are Tuesday and Wednesday 8AM - 9:15AM. You will need to go to the Center prior to your appointment to pick up a tax packet. On the day of the appointment, you will bring all your documents to the Center for a 15 - minute intake that is a safe place. There will be a partition in between you and the intake preparer as well as you must have your nose and mouth covered with a face mask.

Topic: SPANGLISH Exchange Conversation Group

Schedule: Fridays @ 7PM

To join Zoom Click here

(If anyone has any questions, please email Deb Maibor @ Dmaiborslpslp@gmail.com)

*Whether you are learning Spanish, want to learn Spanish, help others practice English, or just want to meet people from around the world, Spanglish Exchange is a welcoming, international group for you.

Speaking Spanish isn’t required, or even if you just speak “un poco” you can still talk to people from Argentina, Peru, Mexico, Chile, Venezuela, across the USA and from around the world.

Each Spanglish Zoom session starts with a 10 minute check in. Get to know the other Spanglishers – about 1/4 of the attendees at every event are new! No need to worry about making mistakes during our sessions.....the atmosphere is casual, flexible, and respectful of everyone’s differences and skill levels.

Our Spanish speakers and English speakers  then take turns practicing their Spanish and English together in small, conversation “breakout rooms.” We know you’ll be having so much fun you’ll forget you’re learning Spanish, relearning Spanish, or using your present fluent Spanish skills. All levels are accepted into this international community.

To reduce and avoid injury, check with your doctor before
beginning any fitness program.
By performing any fitness exercises, you are performing them at your own risk.
The Town of Needham and the instructors themselves, will not be responsible or liable for any injury or harm you sustain as a result of these online fitness programs. Thank you for your understanding.

ENTERTAINMENT/INTERESTING

Here is an interesting factoid about my home state. February 17, 1876
brought the first canning of Sardines, in Eastport, Maine. For years, Eastport has delivered a gift of a large sardine to the ocean.
Let's take a day time tour.

Let's watch this tase test of sardines.
Never had sardines? Let's try them.
Let's see them in their own habitat.
Many aren't swimming right now like the sardines are. Here are some exercises for swimmers.

Our Comic Relief Clip of the Day is from Bert and I. Maine laughs!
Our MAFA Song of the Day is from an event dear to my heart. It is the East Benton Fiddler Festival in East Benton, Maine. The Littlefield Family runs this every year. The talent is crazy good and a good time is always had by all. That's Cody Littlefield in the front with the beard! Look at the generations!
Our Center Quote of the Day is “Bullfighting can be an art Boxing can be an art Loving can be an art Opening a can of sardines can be an art."
Charles Bukowski
Have a goodnight everyone and we will chat tomorrow!
