Volunteering at the Needham Free Public Library
Library volunteers support, enrich, and enhance the library's services and programs by performing tasks that paid staff members are not available to do. Volunteering offers you an opportunity to meet others who love books and libraries while you provide a valuable service to the library and the community.

Volunteers help in a number of ways: shelve books and audiovisual materials, shelf read, search shelves for missing materials, and mend library materials.

New Volunteer Opportunities
There is a need for volunteers to work at the library's circulation desk, assisting the library staff in handling the large volume of materials that are returned to the library every day. Volunteers would be helping to:
  • Check audiovisual materials to make sure that all of the parts are present
  • Distribute items to returned items shelves
  • Empty return boxes
  • File reserve items
  • Shelve new materials

Please contact the assistant director, Dana Mastroianni at 781-455-7559, extension 203 if you are interested in becoming a volunteer. Please click here for the volunteer application which can be completed and returned via email or in person at the circulation desk.
