Completed Block Party Permission Form should be submitted at least three weeks prior to the scheduled event.

ROAD BARRIERS:
The use of road barriers is contingent upon permission from the Needham Police Department.

• Once approved, barriers can be placed in the street with signs, but you cannot block more than half of the roadway. One lane of traffic is required to be open at all times for emergency traffic.
• Applicant will be notified if permission has been granted and at that time will be provided with contact information for our Public Works Department to check on availability and to arrange for barrier pickup.

GENERAL INFORMATION

• Applicant is not permitted to have any open flame to include fires, fire pits, and grills within the public Right-of-Way. Right-of-Way includes the street and sidewalk.

• State and Town laws prohibit the consumption of alcoholic beverages by any person on the public way, including the street and sidewalk. Persons under twenty-one years of age may not possess or transport alcoholic beverage. Violations of state law and Town by-law pertaining to the possession and consumption of alcoholic beverages are serious matters, and are subject to arrest.

• Applicant agrees that the event will create neither undue problems for local traffic nor undue risk to the safety and welfare of nearby residents.

• Applicant agrees to clear the area of any refuse or debris which may result from the activities.

• The applicant listed on this form is financially responsible for any damage and/or costs associated with damage, which may occur within the Public Right-of-Way as a result of the block party. The applicant agrees to pay the full cost of repair of any damage to pavement or other Right-of-Way improvements occurring during the event.


You will receive notification thru the mail if approved after the next Board of Selectmen meeting. If the block party is before the next Board of Selectmen meeting and all other Departments have approved, you will be sent notification either by email or thru the mail depending on the block party date.
