MITCHELL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

RESTROOM RENOVATIONS

The Town of Needham, Massachusetts invites sealed proposals from Contractors for the Mitchell Elementary School Restroom Renovations, Needham, Massachusetts.  The work includes but is not limited to interior renovations and accessibility improvements at Restrooms, including selective demolition, new partitions, suspended ceilings, doors and hardware, finishes, electrical and plumbing work.  The estimated cost of the work is $550,000.00

Plans, specifications and other Contract Documents may be obtained Wednesday, March 17, 2021, 11:00 AM, online at www.Projectdog.com. Enter the Project Code 842427 in the project locator box and select “Acquire Documents” to download documents. Alternatively, a free CD-ROM may be requested by contacting Projectdog – shipping & handling charges apply. All plan holders must have an active online account on www.Projectdog.com to acquire documents and to receive project notifications. Documents may also be viewed, but not removed, from the offices of Projectdog Inc., 18 Graf Road - Unit 8, Newburyport, MA 01950, Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Sealed file sub-bids for this project will be accepted from eligible bidders at 500 Dedham Ave., Needham, MA 02492 until 12:00 PM Thursday April 8, 2021 at which place (and at 12:30 PM) they shall be publicly opened, read aloud and recorded for presentation to the Awarding Authority.

Sealed general bids for this project will be accepted from eligible bidders at the 500 Dedham Ave., Needham, MA 02492 until 12:00 PM Friday April 16, 2021 at which place (and at 12:30 PM) they shall be publicly opened, read aloud and recorded for presentation to the Awarding Authority.

A pre-bid conference will be held for all interested parties on-site on Wednesday April 1, 2021, 9:00 AM.  Meet at the Main Entrance of the School, 187 Brookline Street, Needham MA 02492.  Attendance at this pre-bid conference is strongly recommended for parties submitting a bid.


Each general bid, and each file sub-bid shall be accompanied by a bid deposit in the form of a bid bond, or cash, or a certified check on, or a treasurer's or cashier's check issued by a responsible bank or trust company, payable to the Town of Needham in the amount of five percent (5%) of value of the bid.  Bid deposits will be dealt with as provided in Massachusetts General Laws, Chapter 149, Section 44B.

To be given consideration, all general bids and all filed sub bids must be accompanied by a copy of the Bidder's Certificate of Eligibility and an Update Statement.  The General Bidder must be certified eligible in the DCAMM General Building Construction category.  The following Filed Sub Bidder DCAMM categories are applicable: Plumbing and Electrical.

Bids shall be made on the basis of the Minimum Wage Rates as determined by the Commissioner of Labor and Industries, Pursuant to the Provisions of Chapter 149, Sections 26 to 27D inclusive of Massachusetts General Laws, a copy of which is attached to and is made a part of the Contract.

Bidders’ selection procedures and contract award shall be in conformity with applicable statues of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Performance and Labor and Materials payment bonds in the full amount of the contract price will be required from the successful bidder.

The Awarding Authority reserves the right to reject any or all general bids, if it be in the public interest to do so, and to reject any sub-bid on any sub-trade if it determines that such sub-bid does not represent the sub-bid of a person competent to perform the work as specified or that less than three such sub-bids were received and that the prices are not reasonable for acceptance without further competition.
