With Covid-19 cases on the rise in Massachusetts and across the country, Governor Baker today issued an advisory that all individuals, regardless of vaccination status, wear masks in all indoor public spaces. Masks continue to be required in certain settings for all people (regardless of vaccination status) such as on public transportation and in health care facilities.
The state Department of Public Health particularly urges this mask recommendation for individuals who have a weakened immune system or are at increased risk for severe disease because of age or an underlying medical condition, or if someone in their household has a weakened immune system, is at increased risk for severe disease, or is unvaccinated.
While masks are not required for vaccinated individuals in most public spaces, Needham Public Health urges the public to take the following steps:
- Please get vaccinated if you have not done so already. Unvaccinated individuals are five times more likely to contract COVID than fully vaccinated individuals and 31 times more likely to contract COVID than individuals who have a booster.
- If you have questions or concerns, please contact your health care provider or Needham Public Health Division at 781-455-7940.
- Take proper hygiene precautions like handwashing and remaining at home when feeling unwell.
- Get tested if you are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms. COVID-19 testing sites are available at mass.gov/GetTested and over-the-counter antigen tests are available at most pharmacies.
If you test positive for Covid-19 or are exposed to someone who has the virus, please follow the state’s public health guidance.
