[ARCHIVED] Schedule Pools at Rosemary Recreation Complex

08.15.19 - Pools Hours

The Pools at Rosemary Recreation Complex have had an exciting first season, and we thank you for being part of our first full season!

We have been communicating with staff since the spring on their availability to work through Labor Day, and have continued to hire staff throughout the summer, including an additional lifeguard this past week. We have some staff preparing to leave at the end of this week as they head off to college, and more will leave next week. High School students that are involved with sports will start leaving late next week. We’ve done multiple staff recruitments throughout the summer, particularly looking for people available at the end of the summer.

During the regular season, we have two shifts working each day, so as the staff becomes smaller we need to adapt the open hours to one working shift. We are still reviewing options for limited opening from August 26-September 2nd, if we are able to have enough staff to safely operate.

The state has minimal safety requirements for the pool that include (a) 1 lifeguard per 25 swimmers; (b) dedicated lifeguard per special sections (diving board, slides), and (c) in areas that aren’t fully visible from a lifeguard chair (example, the lifeguard at the “mushroom” chair cannot see swimmers at the end of the pool next to the slides). The pool permit does not allow our pools to operate without certified lifeguards. For us to be fully open, we need 1 pool supervisor (lifeguard), 1 lap lane lifeguard, 1 zero depth entry lifeguard, 1 mushroom area lifeguard, 1 diving board lifeguard, 1 deep water family pool lifeguard, 1 slide lifeguard, 1 lifeguard deep water lap pool, 1-2 slide monitors, 1 maintenance, 2 booth/ice cream. In some cases, you will see some of the department’s full-time staff assisting with the non-aquatic positions.

*The Spray deck will be opened from the side gate in the mornings and evenings, at no fee. When the Family Pool are open, access will only be from the pools, with the daily admission fee. The spray deck will continue to be opened in September.

Daily Admission rates will be $5/person (resident or non-resident) and $2.50/person for seniors ages 60+ (resident or non-resident).

In the event the number of swimmers exceeds the capacity per lifeguard, the gates may need to temporarily close.
