About the Biosafety Committee

The Biosafety Committee was established by the Board of Health in 2023. The group will review Biosafety applications. The Committee will determine if the company is meeting Needham Public Health’s Biosafety Regulations and whether they should be recommended to Needham Public Health Division for licensure.

The Biosafety Committee will:

    • Meet twice a year, at minimum, for discussion of any biosafety needs and to review applications as they are received;
    • Review application documents required by Needham Public Health’s Biosafety Regulation;
    • Make recommendations to Needham Public Health Division about changes or adjustments needed to the application;
    • Make recommendations for permitting; and
    • May perform on-site visits to businesses for review of practices.
