07/15/2020 - Update:
P&R Summer Recess Program
There has been a change to our Summer Recess program. Our Newman Summer Recess program will be a Tennis focused program (much like our Tennis Academy program) and will run all four weeks from 9:00am – 12:00pm.
Registration for week 1 is currently open and will close Friday, July 17th at 5:00pm. Our Eliot Summer Recess program still has some spots available for Week 1 and will also close at 5:00pm on Friday.
Registration for week 2 is currently open and will close Wednesday, July 22nd.
Our virtual Summer Recess will be 1 hour each day Monday – Friday. We have three great offerings: Crafty Kids for Ages 5 – 7, P&R Gameathon for ages 7 – 12 and Park and Rec Puzzles (Escape Rooms) for ages 8-10.
Week 1 (July 20 – July 24) is now open for registration! Week 2 (July 27 – July 31) will open on Monday, July 20th at 9:00am.
Families that are eligible for fee assistance should contact the Park and Recreation office via email (firstname.lastname@example.org) for details on how they can register for a week of programming.
As with all programs run by Park and Recreation, the safety of our residents, participants and staff are a primary focus. Park and Recreation has worked closely with the Needham Public Health Department to ensure all state guidance is met to operate safely. Face covering and social distance guidelines will be followed as per the Needham Board of Health. All in person participants will be required to bring a face covering with them daily to attend and cannot attend if they are showing any symptoms of coronavirus. There will be a slightly staggered drop-off and pick-up time for each group. Once the program begins, the groups cannot be changed, and participants cannot be moved from group to group or from site to site. Siblings must be registered for the same group and families that want to attend together must register for the same group. The full extent of protocols and procedures that will be followed this summer is posted on the Park and Recreation website (www.needhamma.gov/ParkandRecreation).

06/01/2020 - Summer Aquatic Programs:
It is with deep regret that we inform you that, after extended meetings and conversations, we have concluded that we must cancel all our aquatic-based programs. This includes Sharks Swim Team, Swim Lessons & Sunset Yoga. We understand this is a great disappointment to everyone but probably not unexpected.
The Town of Needham’s Park & Recreation Department is driven by the safety of our members, patrons, residents, and staff. COVID-19 is creating so much uncertainty throughout our country and our region, we cannot in good conscience take even a small chance that you or your family members could become exposed to this virus. Our aquatic-based programs cannot ensure enough physical distancing and we have made the difficult decision to cancel.
For those that are already registered for aquatics programming this summer, you were emailed directly with the options for withdrawing from these programs. If you have any questions about your specific registration, please email email@example.com.
